Community
Giving back to the community is something IPS's founders and CEO feel strongly about. "Clay, Marv, and I feel very strongly about giving back through charitable causes that promote the same values and beliefs that we share. We appreciate all of the fine people who help support these great organizations," says IPS CEO R. David Knight.
To that end, we support several organizations that enrich their communities and beyond in ways large and small. Here are some of the terrific organizations IPS is proud to support.
Victory Junction
When Kyle and Pattie Petty's son Adam died in 2000, they set out to make his dream come true. That dream was to build a camp for seriously ill children, a place where they and their families could go for life-changing experiences in an exciting, fun, empowering, and medically sound environment. The Petty's are a famous NASCAR racing family, so it is only natural that the camp features a racing theme. Since opening in 2004, Victory Junction, located in Randleman, N.C., has brought smiles to more than 12,000 children from 47 states and three foreign countries. Victory Junction is a member of Paul Newman's Hole in the Wall Camps.
ASPCA
The first humane organization in North America, the ASPCA began in 1866 to "to provide effective means for the prevention of cruelty to animals throughout the United States," according to founder Henry Bergh. Today, the ASPCA works to rescue animals from abuse, pass humane laws, and share resources with animal shelters nationwide. The organization provides local and national leadership in three key areas: caring for pet parents and pets, providing positive outcomes for at-risk animals, and serving victims of animal cruelty. In the last year, the ASPCA has assisted in the adoption of more than 63,000 animals.
Garth Brooks Teammates for Kids Foundation
Singer Garth Brooks has partnered with 2,300 professional athletes to raise money for charities that effectively serve and benefit children with an emphasis on health, education, and inner city services. The athletes each contribute a specified amount based on their performance that the foundation then triples. The better they play, the more they give. So far, the Teammates have awarded grants totaling more than $75 million.
Equine Rescue League
Based in Leesburg, Va., the Equine Rescue League supports the responsible use of working, sport, and pleasure horses and ponies. The group operates a 66-acre sanctuary for rescued equines who have been abused or neglected, and rehabilitates them for adoption to caring, qualified caretakers. The League also offers educational programs on horse care for children, horse owners, and humane officers. Read the inspiring stories of just a few of the thousands of horses the League has helped in its nearly 20 years.
The Keith Brooking Childrens Foundation
NFL linebacker and five-time Pro Bowler Keith Brooking established his foundation in 2003 to transform the lives of foster children by creating defining opportunities for them, opportunities that inspire success. It is his way of honoring his mother, a foster parent, and a friend who once paid for him to attend a football camp that led to a college scholarship at Georgia Tech. As an Atlanta Falcon and now a Dallas Cowboy, Brooking's commitment to foster children in the Atlanta area and beyond is unwavering.
The TGen Foundation
Power Boat Wins Race and Boosts Funding for TGen Research
Clay Newman from Covington, GA, used the national offshore powerboat races in Key West, FL, as a mechanism for raising money for TGen's research programs. He donated $100 to TGen for every lap that his favorite boat led. The boat he sponsored (the Shogren of Fountain Boats), displayed TGen's logo. Also featured were the logos for Terri Link's Memorial and the ATAC Fund. The Shogren won the race by 24 laps and Mr. Newton donated the funds to TGen in memory of his friend Terri Link. Drew Link established the Terri Link Memorial at TGen in his wife’s memory and matched the funds donated by Mr. Newman.
